A man has appeared in court on this week after two officers were injured in a car chase through Malden Rushett on Monday (August 13).

A red Honda Civic, reported stolen from New Malden, failed to stop for police on Monday at around 11.30pm on the A243 Leatherhead Road through Malden Rushett.

Police officers attempted to stop the car using a tactical pursuit and containment manoeuvre, but the Honda Civic got away, causing damage to the vehicle and injury to the two officers.

The pursuit continued along the A243 Leatherhead Road for a short distance before the car was successfully after causing damage to a further police vehicle.

Joe Oliver Sadler, 20, of no fixed abode, appeared at Staines Magistrates Court on August 15, and was charged with two counts of actual bodily harm against the officers, aggravated vehicle taking, driving without insurance and failing to provide a roadside specimen.

Mr Sadler has been released on conditional bail to appear at Guildford Crown Court on 17 September 2018.

The passenger in the red Honda Civic was arrested but later released under investigation.
