A man who stumbled across a trolley when walking in a Ladywell park has said the 'art display' filled him with cheer.

James Loftus, 52, was walking in Ladywell Fields on Monday (August 13) when he saw the trolley, which was placed around a string perimeter.

The display was created by an unknown artist using an “aluminium and plastic technique” and is named The Lone Trolley.

An accompanying sign reads: “South East London has an ancient tradition of using trolleys from local supermarkets as a form of artistic expression.

“The Lone Trolley represents the unheard voices of the hard working people who struggle to find leisure activities on their time off, finding contentment in trolleys.”

Following this message was the hashtag #CatfordCurious.

James, who lives in Ladywell, told News Shopper: “I wondered if it was just some silliness by kids or something but after seeing and reading the note it filled me with cheer.

“Each to their own, I thought it was funny.”
