News Shopper reported how travellers stormed their way through Willett Recreation Ground in Petts Wood on Monday (August 13) at around 9pm.

It is understood some travellers from Petts Wood have now headed to Whitehall Recreation Ground whereas a new group has gathered in Hayes Common.

One angry resident who lives on Hawthorne Road in Bromley said police are currently along his road.

He told News Shopper: "We are getting sick and tired of it up here. Nothing is ever done about it.

"They have tried injunctions before. They can do nothing. How much is this costing us?"

Councillor Kate Lymer, executive councillor for public protection and enforcement, said on Twitter she would be in court today seeking a borough-wide injunction for all travellers.

She told News Shopper: “We are looking at all legal options to prevent and stop illegal incursions of this nature and residents should know that we will and are following these processes.

"The Council and the Police are aware of two illegal traveller incursions, on Hayes Common and in Whitehall Recreation Ground, with this group occupying the site following earlier legal action by the Police at Willett Recreation Ground in Petts Wood.  We will continue to liaise with the Police to ultimately bring these incursions to an end.”
