A single mum has described making the ultimate career change and turning her life around after struggling on benefits.

Cassandra Baker, 41, worked as a criminal prosecutor for 15 years before she packed it in.

She said: “I absolutely loved it at the time. I was always inquisitive as a child and watched detective shows.

“I used to raid sex clubs, massage parlours and targeted economy fraudsters.”

Cassandra, who worked for Ealing Council as a senior criminal investigator for five years, gave up the work when she lost passion for it and went travelling.

After coming home she was unable to find a job. She then fell pregnant and ended up with £10 in her bank.

“I walked into a flat with a baby in my belly and a bin bag," she said. "My landlord took a chance on me.”

Her dad is form Bromley, which inspired her to move there to start a new life.

Cassandra still lives in the same flat in Godwin Road.

After deciding she wanted to start her own salon business she set up Baker Girl Beauty in nearby Homesdale Road in March 2017.

“I’m becoming this little local celeb in Bromley,” she said. “Once you unleash the power of mind you can do anything.

“I would rather be happy. With criminal prosecution you judge people based on the equation but you don’t know what makes that equation and what makes people murder or rape.”

Cassandra says she now has ambitions to start a charity for children with ADHD.

She said: “I can relate to these kids and show them the way. I want to be on stage and help people and go into prisons and give love.

“I am Baker the ultimate dream maker.”

Cassandra said she is loving every minute of working as a beautician and she says she is finally living her dream.
