A cancer support centre in Sidcup has been recognised for its high standard of care by the Macmillan charity.
The Dimbleby Macmillan Support Centre, based out of Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup, has been given the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark for its care.
The award was launched in 2009 by the charity to assess how well cancer units provide support to patients with the illness.
It assesses any healthcare providers open to the public that operate cancer care buildings.
In particular, the Sidcup centre was commended for its friendly staff.
Paula Doig, one of the nurses at the centre, said: "The work everyone at the service does is phenomenal and makes a huge difference to the experience of people living with cancer in South London and North Kent.
"And the fact that we have accomplished this in our very first year of being open, makes the award all the more special.”
