A man has been arrested after a 15-year-old girl was hit by a car in Abbey Wood.

Officers were called to Penmon Road at the junction with Eynsham Drive last night at 6.20pm.

A Facebook post believed to be from the girl's mum says the teenager is currently at Kings College Hospital with a broken pelvis, broken shin and nasty cuts up her leg.

The mother said that the girl is stable, awaiting surgery and has a "long road" to recovery.

The London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance attended.

The driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.

Road closures are in place and enquiries continue.
