This is the moment police chased four jet ski riders down the River Thames through Greenwich to central London as surprised onlookers watched.

Dramatic footage published on social media shows them being pursued on Friday night (August 3).

It followed after the Met Police’s marine policing unit were alerted to reports of the riders “speeding down the River Thames”.

Despite the officers’ efforts during the high-speed chase, it came to an end due to “safety reasons”.

In a couple tweets on August 3, the Met’s marine policing unit said: “Marine policing unit officers pursued four jet skis this evening after reports that they were speeding down the River Thames.

“The jet skis approaching were approaching central London and we were able to make them change their course.

“The decision was taken to no longer pursue the jet skis for safety reasons”.
