Nine talented dancers from south-east London has been chosen by English Youth Ballet to perform in a professional production.

Dancers from Forest Hill, Bromley, Orpington, Beckenham, Petts Wood, West Wickham and Chislehurst were selected and are currently in rehearsals for Swan Lake at the New Wimbledon Theatre.

The children who range from eight to 18 years old will join Ballet Virtuoso on August 24 and 25.

EYB held auditions in February and out of 300 young hopefuls these nine were chosen from south-east London.

Rehearsals are being run by professional ballet dancer, Monica Tapiador who has previously danced with the English National Ballet.

One hundred children from all over London will be performing in these special performances.

She said: “The young dancers are treated like professional dancers during rehearsals – we work them hard but the results are fantastic.

"They learn what the life of a professional dancer is like. They are living their dream and they just love it."

The lucky nine from our area are: Dottie Burdett (12), Lewis Chan (9), Julia Cotterell (14), Tazmin Martin (18), Reuben Moisey (10), Noa Morris (9), Lily Routledge (9), Florence White (8) and Winnie Wilsmer (14).
