'Panicked parents took to social media this morning as CBeebies went down, causing noisy madness and crying children.

The tragic incident happened at 6am, a prime time for busy parents getting their children ready in the morning.

Sky customers described their toddlers in meltdown, threatening to "tear up the place" and urging the TV company to send help.

The channel was down for two hours and resumed around 8.10am, and while some saw only the black hole of not having it some also saw the funny side.

Darren Webber said: “My child is going nuts and threatening to smash everything up. What do I do?!"

Paul Elston tweeted: "@CBeebiesHQ @SkyUK @SkyHelpTeam OMG hurry up.... I have already had to talk to my daughter for an hour... She seems like nice person."

Emily M said: “@skyhelpteam CBeebies channel 614 what is wrong with you?! My son is in meltdown as can’t watch hey duggee! Channel has sound and picture for about hald a second then goes blank? Please help I need this channel for my own sanity in this heat especially being pregnant!"

Taj Dhaliwal said: “Cbeebies has gone down to all the parents out there stay calm and be safe #cbeebies.”

Sarah Garcia said: “What with no #cbeebies this morning I have no idea when we should be eating breakfast or getting dressed..... @CBeebiesHQ.”

Ann Francis asked: “Cbeebies not broadcasting. Is this Brexit? Is this how it starts?'

Another viewer said: "Anarchy has descended on our household. Is there a compensation scheme available? I was thinking 1 new episode of Hey Duggee for each 15 mins of having to interact with our kids? #cryinginside”
