Emergency services had to rescue a man who got stuck in the mud near the River Cray.

Joint forces from Kent and London were deployed to safely find the man shortly after 7am this morning (Thursday).

A photo shared with News Shopper shows crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the London Ambulance Service in Crayford Way, near the river.

Concerned residents also reported hearing a helicopter flying overhead around West Dartford/Crayford as the search for the man intensified.

A Kent Police spokesman confirmed: "Kent Police received a report that a man had come into difficultly near the river on the border of Crayford and Dartford at 7.20am on Thursday 26 July.

"Officers attended the area, as did patrols from the Metropolitan Police and crews from the London Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

"The National Police Air Service also provided assistance.

"The man was safely located at around 8am."

A spokeswoman from Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the service had received reports of a man stuck in the mud and assisted the search.
