A burglar who targeted homes in north Kent and south-east London to “fund his lifestyle” has been jailed for three years and nine months.

James Nevin, 42, of no fixed address, admitted breaking into four houses and was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday (July 20).

The burglar was arrested in Vicarage Park, Plumstead, in June 2018 after a warrant was executed.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Rebecca Vears, said: ‘Nevin is a prolific burglar who targeted homes across north Kent in order to fund his lifestyle.

‘He did not care about the impact his crime had on his victims and I have no doubt he would have carried on had he not been apprehended.’

Nevin pleaded guilty to burgling a home in Station Road, Crayford, on May 9 before stealing a car and a mobile phone.

He also admitted to forcing his way into a home in Birchwood Road, Dartford, on May 11, but no items were reported stolen.

However, jewellery and stamps were snatched on the same day after a home in Wrotham Road, Meopham, was burgled.

The crime spree continued on May 13 when watches and jewellery were reported stolen from a house in Crowhurst Lane, West Kingsdown.
