Staff at a centre for adults with learning disabilities in Temple Hill have appealed for information after more than £350 worth of property was stolen from their shed.

The All Directions centre, which provides workshops for adults as well as summer classes for teenagers, reported having its shed broken into last weekend.

When the centre's volunteer handyman, Chris, came into work on Monday morning, he found it had been stripped bare of the tools stored inside.

"It was completely emptied," Kirsty Cassell, tutor at the centre, told News Shopper.

"All of our tools - and some of Chris's tools - were taken."

Kirsty said the most valued possession that had been taken from the shed was the centre's new lawnmower, which they had fundraised £350 to buy from performance shows.

Also among the items reported stolen were woodwork tools, which Kirsty says are used to run workshops with the students at the centre.

"The shed was absolutely emptied. There was even a bag of rope in there that they took.

"It's not even things you would be able to sell," Kirsty told News Shopper.

Staff at All Directions are hoping someone will come forward with information about who might have broken into the shed.

In particular, Kirsty has asked people to look our for the lawnmower, which has an extra piece of wood painted black stuck onto the handles.

A Kent Police spokesman confirmed: "At 12.33pm on Monday, July 16, Kent Police received a report that an outbuilding in Mallard’s Close, Dartford, had been broken into.

"The offence is believed to have taken place over the weekend of 14 and 15 July and a lawn mower and power tools are reported to have been taken.

"At present no suspects have been identified and anyone with information is asked to call Kent Police on 01474 366149 quoting reference16-0572.
