The leader of Greenwich Council has said he is “delighted” to welcome Baby Trump to the borough.
Baby Trump is a 20-foot inflatable balloon which flew over Parliament Square as a protest to the president’s recent visit to the UK.
Greenwich Council hit the headlines last year after barring the US President Donald Trump from its jurisdiction.
Council leader Danny Thorpe said in June: “His behaviour and the disregard he has shown for human values he has shown since we passed the motion is beyond disgusting.
“I think all of us reaffirm these are not our values and they are not the values of decent human beings and actually certainly they’re not the values of Americans. Our position still stands.”
Baby Trump, which may soon travel overseas for future protests, is today positioned outside the The 02 Arena in Greenwich.
Cllr Thorpe said in a Tweet his motion to ban the controversial president was a success but he was delighted to welcome the Baby Trump version to Greenwich.
So, whilst I can confirm that our motion to ban President #Trump from @Royal_Greenwich was a big success, I’m delighted to officially welcome Baby Trump to #greenwich and thank @PearlJam & @TheO2 for bringing him to #greenwich #togetheragainsttrump pic.twitter.com/JopsQx9G8f
