Bexley cadets from the London Fire Brigade have celebrated finishing the academic year with a pass-out ceremony at Erith Fire Station.
The Fire Cadets organisation takes on children aged 14-17 and teaches them basic skills to learn what it takes to become a firefighter.
Cadets are taught about fire safety and prevention as part of London Fire Brigade's youth engagement work.
In particular, they are taught firefighting techniques such as ladder climbing and hosing and first aid.
The voluntary organisation also offers a BTEC qualification to cadets who complete their training.
Borough commander Peter Curtin congratulated the cadets for finishing their first year with London Fire Brigade.
He said: “Fire cadets are integral to the Brigade and it is fantastic to see them fulfil their potential.
"It provides incredible experience and a chance to learn life skills.
"It’s also a way for us to introduce firefighting as a possible career to young people from different communities and backgrounds across London.”
