Video footage has emerged of the destruction caused by a fire reported this afternoon in Bexleyheath.

At the height of the blaze, London Fire Brigade had 35 firefighters at the scene in Lion Road along with six fire engines.

Staff at nearby businesses said they had heard about a fire at a fish and chip shop and a gaming shop, of which there are two adjacent to each other in Lions Road.

It is not yet clear if these properties were associated with the fire, but a series of outbuildings behind them were destroyed in the blaze.

A London Fire Brigade statement read: "Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers were called to a fire in Lion Road in Bexleyheath.

"A range of outbuilding were destroyed by fire.

"The Brigade’s 999 control officers received more than 30 calls to the fire.

"The Brigade was called at 1202 and the fire was under control at 1334. Fire crews from Plumstead, East Greenwich, Greenwich, Lewisham, New Cross and Forest Hill fire stations are at the scene."

As of 2.30pm, firefighters remain at the scene.
