While many may think that McDonald's restaurants are probably all the same, some customers have taken it upon themselves to review the individual branches.

And it seems the opinions are pretty polarised.

Since the first McDonald's opened in the UK in 1974, the brand has become a fast-food favourite for Brits and now has more than 1,000 branches nationwide.

We have included most of the Maccy D's branches within south east London and north Kent, but not every branch is set up on Tripadvisor.

Some branches had also not received enough reviews to be able to include.

The positive reviews score under each branch is number of excellent and very good tripadvisor scores combined, these were accurate at the time of publishing and will not be updated.

News Shopper:

The good: “A pretty standard McDonalds restaurant. When we went, mid afternoon, there was plenty of seating available upstairs and wait times were pretty much normal”

The bad: “15mins wait @ 15:16 for the last part of my order. Everything else cold!!! Asked for hot fries and cheeseburgers to be ignored. No customer service or even a sorry!! Piled trays too high, large coke dropped off ignored when asked for a refill!”

The good: “I wouldn't normally bother reviewing a McDonalds as I don't consider it much more than a hole-filler, but today's visit left me feeling a review would be appropriate. It came in 3 or 4 minutes which was a nice surprise. The staff were really smart and polite and cleaned up for me when they had noticed i'd finished eating. Chips tasted very fresh too.”

The bad: “Firstly had to ask for napkins. Ordered a cheese quarter pounder and large hot chocolate. The bun is too small for the burger so it hangs out. The hot chocolate tasted like hot water and was only filled three quarters of the way.”

The good: “As a regular visitor of McDonald's, this restaurant was as good as most, clean tidy and friendly staff. Cannot fault the place.”

The bad: “Extremely rude staff. Asked for item, which is on menu, with a different sauce, and completely refused. It was not busy. They just gave a flat answer NO, even though I order same item many times in other McDonald's. When asked why not, it was a very rude, we don't, and that's that.”

The good: “I love McDonalds. I love the chicken, I love the beef, I love the fries, I love the breakfast. My only criticism is that it’s making me fat.”

The bad: “was very disappointed that despite saying a few times we'd been waiting ages no one checked where our order was when clearly if they'd done that they'd have realised it was on the floor.”

News Shopper:

The good: “I come to this McDonald's a lot before work for breakfast or after work on the way home to grab a quick cheeseburger. It's obviously only a McDonald's, however, the service is pretty slow. Staff are friendly enough. Food is good, just like any other McDonald's. Not much else to say.”

The bad: “Always long waits even for something little like an apple pie. Always full to the brim with loud mouthed school children too. Even ordered off of Ubereats just for my order to get cancelled an hour after waiting for it to arrive which Uber told me was Mcdonalds fault.”

The bad: “Popped into McDonald's on Spital Street Dartford with my children to pick up food for the whole family. Got home and tucked into my chicken Legend sandwich only to find some greenish thing sticking out.”

The bad: “This place is awful, crap food and when it’s busy the staff are running round like headless chickens with them prioritising the drive through everyone waiting inside is like waiting. Also seems to be a hangout point for local teen low life.”

The good: “This is probably the cleanest McDonald's restaurant I have ever been in. Staff are helpful and nice and more important the food is good as well. I would definitely be back if I'm ever in the area again.”

News Shopper:

The good: “Food you can get on the quick and plenty of seating area or take away salads as well as burgers and wraps.”

The bad: “Popped in yesterday with my dad, very disappointed, this MacDonalds is usually very reliable! I only ordered 2 drinks, I chips. That was sorted. Sat down no sauce with the chicken! back to complain again ! Got sauce. Now our food was cold!!!”

Dartford – Princes Road

News Shopper:

The good: “Maybe people are being a bit harsh about this McDonald’s because experience was pretty positive. Good food.”

The bad: “I had to ask a young man who was wiping trays at the service counter to come over and wipe the table for us! That seemed an effort, ‘I can’t keep on top if it’ was his excuse, in fact all the staff looked like they couldn’t be bothered, perhaps it was the managers day off! Think I’ll give this one a miss for a few weeks, then see if it has improved!”

Bromley – Hastings Road

News Shopper:

The good: “My wife and I popped in here one Wednesday evening at about 6pm. Ordering was simple and straightforward, staff polite and informative, customers relatively well behaved. Very quick service. Can't really fault it for what it is.”

The bad: “Thought I would treat son to one of the new premium range burgers they have on offer, not one to regularly visit McDonald but hey every once in a while hey! Anyhow disgusted have my boy discover not one but 2 hairs in centre of the burger yuk!”

Orpington – Sevenoaks Way

News Shopper:

The good: “I have been to a number of Mc Donald's as I prefer organic milk. However, this one is better than most, although I prefer it when it is quieter. Sometimes a MacDonalds' latte cannot be beaten. Here is cleaner than other branches. Staff are kind.”

The bad: “Just ordered a couple of Big Macs, the burgers were so thin both burgers would not have been the thickness of half a normal burger, I don’t know if this is normal but nothing like the picture, I don’t know how they get away with it.”

The good: “Can’t go wrong with a good Mc D'z. generally quick to be served when in line, and usually hot food.”

The bad: “Friendly service, trouble was ordered and paid for two cheeseburgers, having got home, two Hamburgers in Cheeseburger wrappers ...too difficult to add the cheese?”

Greenhithe – London Road

News Shopper:

The good: “The crisp chicken wraps are absolute delight for me and the kids love the happy meal. Environment is usually clean and parking is not an issue at this restaurant. Staff are warm, polite and very helpful. Never been rudely treated.”

The bad: “Always a queue out of the door the staff bickering in front of customers and fries was worst had in a long time, Burger King in future I think”

Sydenham – Bell Green Retail Park

Positive reviews 14%

News Shopper:

The good: “Intended to have lunch in the supermarket but there was a queue so popped into McDonalds. No queue, fast service, very clean and I do so love a big mac.”

The bad: “This place needs to be shut down. I’ve been here many times and it gets worse to the point I’ll drive to Penge or Catford instead. I got home and my cheeseburger had no bun!!??!!. I’ve never had a fillet o fish yet that has had the cheese in the burger rather then placed up the side of the box. How is this hell hole even still open

News Shopper:

The good: “Although a typical franchise, this restaurant is cleaner than many and quite efficient. My top tip for eating in is to go upstairs, where there is a lot of space and it's quieter away from all the small kids and pushchairs.”

The bad: “Manager was really not bothered that myself and 7 year old were waiting for 20 minutes for a burger with extra pickles in a reasonably quiet fast food restaurant. Don't expect any fast food here.”
