An emergency application has been sent to close down an independent Islamic faith school in Bromley following an incident involving a suspected firearm.

The application has been filed following an incident reported on the same road as Islamic school Darul Uloom London in May.

Police were called to Foxbury Avenue in Chislehurst on May 30 after a man was seen with a suspected firearm.

News Shopper understands the incident police were responding to was at Darul Uloom London.

A spokesman from the Met Police said: “A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and taken to a south London police station. He has since been released under investigation.

“A second man, aged 65, was subsequently arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation. He has also been released under investigation.”

In a legal document from the Secretary of State for Education seen by News Shopper - a complaint letter has been sent to remove the school because “students are likely to suffer significant harm”.

The school's case will be heard at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today (June 22).

Darul Uloom London was established in 1988 and now has 18 classrooms.
