A Bromley mum who is battling breast cancer has been shortlisted for a national award.
Sherry Bevan, 54, was diagnosed on June 7 after a regular screening and she will have surgery on July 4.
She is now a finalist in the Mpower National Business Awards in the Spirit category and is in with a chance to win the Mpower Woman of the Year.
The mum of two is the founder of Confident Mother – a coaching practice helping women who have taken a career break or maternity leave.
Speaking about the nomination, Sherry said: “I was honoured and delighted to be shortlisted. When I look at the other finalists, these are some of the most inspirational female entrepreneurs in the UK.”
Sherry is a TV regular and often appears on news shows talking about topics concerning young mums.
Founder of Mpower awards, Nicola Huelin, said: “Often invisible to most, mums in business are changing the business landscape, while raising and inspiring the generations of the future.
“We believe their efforts and successes in overcoming the unique challenges of combining business and motherhood, particularly in those first few years when it’s the hardest, need to be recognised and celebrated.”
The awards ceremony is being held at the Holiday Inn in Bloomsbury on June 23.
