An arrest has been made after footage appeared on social media showing a man crashing into two elderly women on a mobility scooter in Welling.

A 40-year-old man was arrested today on suspicion of causing GBH with intent and bodily harm by wanton or furious driving.

South East Models shop released the CCTV footage last week, which shows a man on a scooter driving by two women waiting for a bus.

One of the women was knocked over as the scooter reversed into her.

The crash forced her to stumble into the other elderly woman as both fell to the floor before the scooter was driven away.

Ian Gooch, who recorded the video on CCTV, told News Shopper: "They didn't know what had happened. They thought they had been pushed until they saw the footage."

Met Police confirmed they were aware of the incident on Thursday, June 14, shortly after 1.30pm and were investigating.

East Wickham police today confirmed a man was arrested and remains in custody.

They added that nobody else was being looked for in relation to the incident.
