A JustGiving page has been set up to fund a new mural in Lee that will be similar to the ones at Hither Green and Brockley stations.

Hither Green Murals is a community-run initiative to “create a greater sense of identity” in south-east London.

If you live in SE London you will no doubt have see local artist, Lionel Stanhope’s, artwork.

From a friendly pig on the front of Proud Sow in Crofton Park to railway murals in Herne Hill, Hither Green, Brockley and Forest Hill, you definitely can’t miss his work.

Now the good people of Lee have started a JustGiving page to get their own, after a badly placed ad was put up under the railway bridge.

The misplaced ad was actually aimed at Deliveroo customers in Grove Park, so the locals of Lee decided something more appropriate should take its place.

News Shopper:

The idea came from a local woman called Silvia Marciante and the aim is to raise £1,000.

Just two days after the page went live they had already hit the halfway mark.

A spokeswoman from the Facebook group Hither Green Murals said: “The Lee totem is slightly different in that Network Rail are paying for the totem itself - it is part of a series of murals by Lionel Stanhope that they are supporting."
