A school in Oxfordshire has banned students from wearing shorts, insisting that they either wear trousers or skirts, but would you send your son to school in a skirt?

Chiltern Edge Secondary School has banned boys from wearing shorts, insisting that skirts and trousers are more ‘formal’.

This is part of a ‘gender-neutral’ uniform policy.

We asked Shopper readers if they would send their son to school in a skirt and here is what you said.

Anna Sherry said: “If my Son wanted to wear a skirt to school then I'd be more than happy to let him. I don't think the school should be forcing it though. The school should allow the choice of skirts & shorts for both sexes.”

Julie Lancaster: “Why not just let boys and girls wear shorts?”

James Fishlock: “Male teachers wear skirts there do they?”

Kristian Antrobus: “Not being funny if it's gender neutral then shorts should be allowed and girls should be allowed to wear them.”

Chelsea Thomas: ”Boys can't have long hair but they can wear a skirt. Makes sense.”

Eloise Lenton: “Let kids wear what they’re comfortable in.”

Daniel Andrew: “I’d be removing my child from that school very quickly. I don’t hate people who choose this way of life and certainly don’t think they should be persecuted for it.

“I personally think it’s weird and i have the same right to disagree with something as someone has the right to wear what they want and I’m firmly on the side of your either a boy or girl with whichever genitalia your born with. Stop trying to force people to accept things.”

Henry Brockson: “You parents need to GET off your butts and fix this. This is a form of child abuse and whoever put this into play needs to front a judge.”

Gavin Francis: “The children of the school and the parents of the children should stage a massive protest outside school for a week long protest.... 1 parents deliver children to the school once children are in the school I do not go to class we stand on the field or the playground With parents supporting them once the children are at school they cannot be fined or taken to court.”

So, let us know. Would you let your son go to school in a skirt?
