Erith Town FC are returning to their home ground this July, after several seasons of sharing grounds.

The Dockers' first team will be playing all its fixtures at Erith Stadium after the move, and want to bring the community together to support the team.

Matt Webb, manager of Erith Leisure Centre, said he was "delighted" to welcome the team back to the stadium.

The club has not played competitive matches at Erith Stadium since 2013. For the last two seasons, the team have been playing in Crayford, sharing VCD Athletic's ground.

The Dockers have thanked the chairman of VCD Athletic, Gary Rump, for welcoming them into a new ground and helping them during their stay.

Mark Deveney, managing director of Erith Town, said: “It has always been our ambition to take the club back to Erith and be a focal part of the local community.

"We would like thank Matt and his team for their welcome and also to the local community have been very enthusiastic about our return and it is our hope that we will play a genuine active role within Erith itself.

"The club have become partners of Erith Fun Day, which takes place on 7th July at the Recreation Ground, and we will be active in and around the community as much as possible.

"With that in mind we are in discussions with local schools to build positive relationships."

He added the club have shown it can bring the community together in the charity events it has organised over the last few months.

The Dockers recently hosted a charity match and fun day to raise money for charity, For Jimmy, which was set up in memory of Jimmy Mizen who was killed in an unprovoked attack ten years ago at the age of 15.

As the return to Erith Stadium approaches, Mr Deveney also announced the club plans to implement a youth football section within the club.

The Dockers' first fixture at Erith Stadium will be a pre-season friendly against Tonbridge Angels on July 11 at 7.45pm.

Their next few home games will be against Aveley on July 20 and Greenwich Borough on July 27 - both at 7.45 pm.
