A nine-storey extension has been proposed for the Vista Building in Woolwich.
The building, in Calderwood Street, has 11 storeys, and the developers have come back in for an extension to accommodate flats.
According to the application, which was submitted by Sawkings Architects, the extension would include seven apartments and a shop.
It is the repeat of an application from 2011, which was given the green light by the council.
The planning documents state: “The previous proposal provided six two-bed, three-person apartments and one two-bed, four person apartment however all of the apartments provided in this proposal have two double bedrooms and as such are two bed, four person.
“This proposal seeks to provide a more aesthetically pleasing
addition to the existing building than was previously submitted– picking
up on key design elements of the existing but providing a clear
definition between old and new.”
The developers said this latest proposal is more “buildable” than previous designs, and would provide “much-needed” housing for Woolwich.
The Vista Building was formerly an office block before it was converted into flats.
