A Bromley man has been arrested and offered help after barricading himself in his flat and "threatening to kill his family".

The Metropolitan Police Task Force say "they dealt with a male who barricaded himself in his flat, making threats to kill his family, suffering from a mental health episode".

Officers arrested the man and took him into custody before offering him help.

A statement added: "The person would have been seen by a mental health professional in custody or referred to one.

"He may even already be involved in mental health services. It’s one of the most important priorities whilst at custody."

Bromley Police have been contacted for more information.
