The friend of a mum found murdered in Bromley has paid tribute to her former school pal.

Kerry Pinder, 30, was close to Sophie Cavanagh, 31, when they attended Charles Edward Brooke School in Lambeth.

“In school she was lovely,” Kerry told News Shopper. “We had such a great laugh.

“One of my favourite memories was when we got separated in science class because we were giggling too much.”

Kerry recalled Sophie being there for her when she was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was 14 years old.

“She helped me through that. She was a really good friend. Sophie and another girl were the only ones I would cry in front of when I was scared.”

Despite growing apart as they got older, Kerry spoke to Sophie just a few weeks ago.

“She said she was fine,” Kerry remembered. “It was a big catch-up. I got married last year so she wanted to hear about that.

“We caught up every few months and I told her I would speak to her soon. But then I heard the news last night.”

Kerry said she knew her school pal was going through a divorce and was starting her own anti-ageing business.

The Bermondsey woman added: “Sophie was just a lovely, kind, supportive person and a great mum.

“The way she spoke about her kids, she loved them to bits.”

Sophie's estranged husband, Martin Cavanagh, 34, has now been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Her body was found on Sunday, May 20, on Chatterton Road in Bromley.
