Three men have been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a car crash that left a man with potentially life-changing injuries.

The crash occurred just before 6am on Wednesday on Bellegrove Road in Shooters Hill.

The injured man, in his 50s, was taken to hospital. Three men were arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving and theft of a car.

At the time of the crash, Bellegrove Road (A207) off Shooters Hill, was closed both ways while emergency services attended the scene.

Transport for London is advising drivers to take an alternative route while the road remains closed.

According to TfL, the road is still closed between Eastcote Lane and Wickham Lane.

A witness reported seeing a car pulling out of the petrol station before it collided with another car.

A spokeswoman for Met Police confirmed: "Police were called at approximately 05:40hrs to reports of a collision involving two cars on Bellgrove road, Welling.

"Officers attended along with colleagues from LAS and LFB.

"A man, believed to be aged in his 50's was conveyed to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, but may be life-changing.

"Three men were arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving and theft of a motor vehicle.

"They remain in custody; enquiries continue."
