Concerns over a dilapidated bridge in Thamesmead are to be looked at after confusion over who would actually be responsible for it.
After photos of the 'A' bridge were posted on Facebook showing loose steps and weeds growing from the cracks, people were keen to report the problem to the local authority.
However, a debate ensued when nobody could agree on which authority owned the bridge.
The Facebook user who posted the photos claimed to have contacted Bexley Council and Greenwich Council, but alleged both authorities denied owning the bridge.
Some commenters suggested the bridge might be the responsibility of housing charity Peabody, but it too denied responsibility for it.
After contacting the councils, News Shopper has learnt the bridge falls under the control of Bexley Council, which has said it will take action on the state of the structure.
A spokeswoman for the council said: "Bexley is responsible for the ‘A’ bridge in Thamesmead.
"We will be sending out a team to address the points raised by this resident.
"Residents can report broken pavements and overgrown paths online at www.bexley.gov.uk and choosing ‘online services’."
