The London Fire Brigade was called to a Beckenham restaurant this morning.

Firefighters were needed at 10.30pm after 15 per cent of Toby Carvery's basement on Upper Elmers End Road was in flames.

A police spokeswoman said 10 people were evacuated but no injuries were reported.

One witness, Ben Silver, told News Shopper: "I saw the fire engines and thought 'what is going on here'.

"I walked up to the platform at Eden Park station to get a better view of what was happening.

"There was lots of smoke coming down from exit doors. You could see men with torches and smoke was pouring from the cellar.

"It was mad and really noisy."

The four engines have now left the scene safely.
