Marks and Spencers will become Markle and Sparkle this weekend to celebrate the Royal Wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The Lewisham branch as well as many more across the country is taking part in the royal campaign.

M&S stores in Kensington & Chelsea, Reading, Maidenhead, Camberley, Bracknell, Newbury, Leamington Spa, Tunbridge Wells, Swindon, Kingston upon Thames, Lewisham, Llandudno and Sutton Coldfield will also feature specially designed Markle & Sparkle windows and decor.

Customers will also be able to take advantage of in-store Markle & Sparkle selfie booths and send messages via its social channels, all of which will be made into a virtual wedding album and sent to Kensington Palace.

The retailer said the re-brand, accompanied by a town crier and a ceremonial ribbon-cut performed by recently wed M&S characters Percy and Penny Pig, was its way of capturing the excitement of "receiving a real-life Hollywood princess into our royal family"

The retailer is also encouraging people who aren't able to pop into a store to share their messages on social media using the hashtag #MarkleandSparkle .

M&S will collate all the messages from customers into a virtual wedding album which will be sent onto Kensington Palace on behalf of customers and staff.

Sharry Cramond, marketing director of food and hospitality at M&S said: “As a retailer, we've celebrated 34 royal weddings over our 134-year history, but this is the boldest idea we've delivered yet.

"We wanted to spark a smile from Harry and Meghan on their big day and capture the excitement and celebratory mood of the nation on receiving a real-life Hollywood princess into our royal family."

The Royal newlyweds are expected to pass-by the newly branded Markle & Sparkle Windsor store following their nuptials at St George’s Chapel on Saturday, May 19.
