The incoming leader of Greenwich Council has announced who is set to be in his top team at town hall.
Councillor Danny Thorpe, who will be formally announced as the council leader at a meeting next Wednesday, has picked who will be in his reshuffled cabinet.
The new look team features previous leader Denise Hyland taking the role for portfolio holder for economy, skills and apprenticeships, whilst new deputy David Gardner has been given Children’s Services and Schools.
One of the more topical areas of air quality and transport will be under Cllr Denise Scott-McDonald’s control.
Cllr Scott McDonald represents Peninsula Ward, which has been the source of controversy following the Silvertown Tunnel announcement and the revised Toxic Port campaign.
Cllr Sizwe James, who was in charge of transport and the economy under the last leadership, will now take on growth and strategic development.
New to the cabinet is cllr Christine Grice, who will be heading up finance and resources.
Cllr Thorpe wrote on Twitter: “They are a talented team who will deliver the changes residents want to see. I’m super proud it includes six women and councillors from across Greenwich.”
