A Bexleyheath Asda staff member who was at work just before a man jumped off the roof of the building has told News Shopper what he saw.

The worker, who does not want to be named, was taking his break when he found out a man in his 30s had climbed onto the roof.

He said: "He was really determined because it's not easy to get up there.

"He climbed onto a net that we use to keep pigeons away and almost fell through it then."

The witness added that he saw an older man trying to talk the troubled man down, and was told afterwards that the older man was his father. However, his identity has not been officially confirmed.

"I didn't understand what was happening. I thought maybe he had stolen something."

After he left work, he pulled up outside the Asda store to see what was going on.

"From what I heard, the man was upset - something to do with the NHS murdering his baby." This supports other claims made on social media that the man claimed the NHS had 'killed' his child.

The witness added that the man - who has been airlifted to hospital after jumping from the roof - was "speaking about Jesus Christ over and over again."
