A lorry driver said he "received abuse" from other motorists after he blocked the M25 to save a woman.
The woman had crashed into a central reservation off junction 5 by Sevenoaks yesterday (May 2) around 5.30pm.
Sam Nesbitt arrived at the crash site about 10 seconds after her car had careered off the reservation and into the centre of the busy motorway.
The Warrick lorry driver said: "I didn't see her crash. She was facing sideways between lanes two and three and nobody else seemed to be stopping."
So Sam did the only thing he thought he could: He stopped his lorry and blocked three lanes of the motorway to prevent anyone else from hitting her.
"They would cause a lot less damage if they hit my 44 tonne lorry", he told News Shopper.
"Cars weren't even slowing down. They were swerving to avoid hitting her at the last minute. I got out to help her and call the ambulance."
Sam said the Highways officer thanked him for what he did when they arrived, but not everyone was so pleased with his actions.
"I was getting abuse over it from car drivers, but I thought I was doing the right thing and still think I did", he said.
The crash site was cleared by 6.30pm but traffic remained backed up on the road for miles on the clockwise direction.
