A loud bang could be heard across Dartford on Saturday night at 11pm as Littlebrook Power Station was demolished.
The explosion took down the 'B' station boiler house and turbine hall, which was the first in a series of blasts to remove the power station.
Over the years, the power station next to the Dartford Crossing has been used to produce energy from various resources including coal and oil.
Residents who live within earshot of the explosion were warned about the planned destruction a few weeks in advance, with the QE2 bridge being closed.
In a statement, demolition company Brown and Mason Limited said further explosions are planned for 2018 and 2019 with demolition expected to finish in 2020.
