Smokers are being urged to put their cigarettes out properly after a fire broke out at a block flats in Bromley earlier this week.
A woman and a child escaped the blaze after part of the property’s fifth floor, in Fair Acres, was damaged shortly before 5pm on April 25.
She was treated at the scene, alongside another woman from an adjacent flat, by staff from the London Ambulance Service who attended alongside the London Fire Brigade.
The condition of the child is currently unknown, however, no injuries were reported by emergency services.

Investigators believe the cause of the fire was due to the ‘involvement of smoking material, such as cigarettes or matches’ following the attendance of 21 firefighters from Addington, Beckenham, and Bromley fire stations.
The incident was reported to be under control at approximately 6.30pm.
