An inspirational 10-year-old boy from Orpington is cutting his hair for the first time in three years for charity.

Sean Alder grew his hair after speaking to his mum about some of his relatives who died from cancer before he was born.

Mum Nicole Alder, 35, told News Shopper: “He saw the brave the shave advert on TV, and he already had a shaved head, so he decided to do the opposite.

“He asked me could he grow it. I didn’t think he would stick to it – I thought as soon as someone said he looks like a girl he would stop.”

Three years later, with his 15 inches of hair, Sean now laughs when people mistake him for a girl.

“It is just amazing,” Nicole said. “He tells everyone at Karate. I am really proud. His friends think he is amazing.

“I remember one of his teachers messaged me saying they were doing a lesson today about people who inspired the kids.

“A lot of the children said Sean inspires them because of what he is doing – the teacher said the admiration they had for a ten-year-old blew her away.”

Two of Sean’s great-grandparents died of cancer, along with a grandad and an aunt who passed away a couple of years ago.

On June 23 – Sean is finally cutting his hair at his school fair.

He will donate his hair to the Little Princess Trust – a charity which provides wigs to children and young adults up to the age of 24.

Mum Nicole added: “He is sort of nervous and excited. I said to him I hope he realises how light his head will feel afterwards!”
