An Anerley woman who spotted a young family of ducklings wandering dangerously on a busy road spent over two hours ensuring no harm came to them.

Kim Boscic, 58, discovered the seven lost ducklings after leaving Crystal Palace Park where she had been walking a friend’s dog.

Traffic had stopped just off Penge High Street this week when a man moved the ducklings to the pavement.

Kim said: “They were defenceless. They could have been eaten by a fox or killed by a car. I wanted to reunite them.

“I felt responsible, as if they were my own little children, and I had to do something.”

Kim and a friend put the ducklings into a box and tried to contact the park – who she said were not able to assist.

She told News Shopper: “My friend had to go to work and he dropped me to a friend’s house to return the dog.

“I then got home with the ducks and put them in a cat box, which was bigger and had more water.”

The RSPCA advised Kim to try and find the mother of the ducks. She again made the journey to Crystal Palace Park – this time carrying seven ducklings.

She said: “I met a lady who was with her daughter. We walked up the lake – I didn’t know what to do with them.

“After standing around – I saw ducks which looked like the mum and dad. I put one through the fence and she ran to the duck, and I thought that was a good sign.”

Kim then ushered the other six through – before they all got into the lake together.

The seven ducklings were returned safely around 10.30am - over two hours after being lost on a main road.
