Greenwich Council want to know what you think of the moon.

The council is teaming together with the people from the Moon Festival to celebrate that shiny white thing in the night sky.

Their campaign, called #TheMoonMeans, is trying to find out what people think of the massive night light, and they are starting in the borough of Greenwich.

The three day festival will be held in July 2019 in Greenwich to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.

That does not sound particularly relevant to Greenwich specifically, but part of the thinking behind holding it in the Royal Borough is thanks to the Royal Observatory.

Marek Kukula, Royal Observatory astronomer, said: “With its moon-gazing, the Royal Observatory and its dependence on the daily ebb and flow of the tide, Greenwich has always had a special connection to the moon.

“I can't think of a better place to celebrate humanity's relationship with our closest celestial neighbour, especially in the 50th anniversary year of Neil Armstrong's 'one small step'.”

It's not the first time a moon-related festival showed up in Greenwich. In December 2017, the Museum of the Moon art installation landed at the Royal Arsenal, which was a 1:500,000 scale perfect model of the moon.

This Moon Festival is planned to be a global celebration of that thing the bloke in the Dreamworks logo sits on, and yes they do genuinely want people to write to them and tell them what the moon means to them.

If you complete the survey, you will even enter a competition to win a two night stay in a moon-themed hotel along with VIP tickets to the festival.

The survey is open until April 26 and is available at surveymonkey.co.uk/r/MoonFestival2019
