A man who died on an industrial estate in Erith on Friday (April 6) was killed by a falling object, police say.

Paramedics were unable to save the man's life after they were called shortly before 10am to Europa Trading Estate in Fraser Road on April 6.

Numerous ambulances were dispatched, including an air ambulance, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.56am [April 6] to reports of an incident near Fraser Road, Erith.

“We sent two single responders in cars, an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and our hazardous area response team to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“Sadly, the patient was pronounced dead at the scene.”

A spokesman from the Met Police said: "Police were called by London Ambulance Service colleagues at 10:01hrs on Friday, 6 to a trading estate in Erith, Bexley, following reports of a male injured by a falling object.

Officers attended along with London’s Air Ambulance.

Despite the efforts of medical professionals the male, believed to be aged between 40 and 50, died at the scene.

Next of kin have been informed. 

At this early stage, the death is being treated as unexplained.

The Health and Safety Executive is aware.

A crime scene was put in place and has since been closed.

A 55-year-old man is helping police with their enquiries.
