Crofton Park’s own book shop is holding a very special day this weekend for 'Rebel Girls' to learn about 100 years of women having the vote.

If you didn’t already know, Crofton Books is located in Crofton Park Library with hundreds of second hand reads for you to indulge yourself in.

The Rebel Girls Day has been organised by Crofton Park Community Library in collaboration with Crofton Books.

The event will take place this Saturday (March 24) and will celebrate young women amidst the recent Hollywood scandals and #metoo movements. It’s a day to inspire young women in Lewisham and help them make a great success of their lives.

On the day they will present a history of the Suffragette movement and highlight the suffering women had to endure to get the vote.

Crofton Books is currently pressing hard to provide a women’s writing and feminist section that’s the best in London.

The community hub is the busiest it has ever been so these events are to honour that and those who are visiting.

March 24 will begin with a 'How to make your own poster sign' "VOTES FOR WOMEN" at 11.30am.

Next at 2pm there will be a 'Lives of the Rebel Girls' reading , 'Good night stories for Rebel Girls' from Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo and there will be a chance to win copies of this book at our Rebel portraits competition at 3pm.

The recommended age groups for the activities are 9 to 13 but of course everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the day.

Crofton Books is open seven days a week and there is always a slice of cake or two to enjoy as you browse.
