Police have confirmed they are still hunting for a man who tried to abduct a girl outside her school on March 5.

Last week, the Met said it had cancelled the appeal, saying officers were satisfied that no attempted abduction took place after confusing it with a similar incident.

This morning however, this has been confirmed as "incorrect" and the man in the e-fit is still being sought in connection with the attempted abduction.

A Met spokesperson said: "We are still investigating the attempted abduction of a girl in Bromley the morning of Monday, 5 March. A note issued to media on Friday, March 16, stating that this investigation had concluded was incorrect."

Regarding the accidental recall of the initial appeal, they added: "We received a similar, unrelated report about an alleged child abduction in Bromley on Tuesday, March 13, and it is this incident that police received an explanation for and are satisfied that there was no offence."

The attempted abduction took place at around 9.30 am on Monday, March 5, when a man tried to coax a ten year old girl into his car on Beckenham Lane, Bromley.

He is described as a white man in his early 40s and is believed to have been wearing a light brown blazer with a white shirt and an orange tie, grey trousers and black shoes. He was driving a dark-coloured vehicle.
