A 62-year-old man was taken to hospital after being stabbed in broad daylight in Abbey Wood.

The victim is believed to have been stabbed in the chest and the arm after a colleague said a hooded figure approached him and demanded money.

The victim’s colleague told the News Shopper he refused to give the attacker any money and tried to kick out and defend himself, but as he tried to run away he was injured.

A spokesman for the Met Police said: “We were called at 13.24 on Wednesday to reports of a man stabbed in Manton Road, SE2.

“We discovered a 62 year old man with stab injuries that were not life threatening. He was taken to a South London hospital.

"At this stage there have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
