A third of Brits would support a World Cup boycott by the England football team, according to pollsters YouGov.

The survey of 1,986 adults for the Times found 34 per cent would back the decision to pull out of this summer’s tournament.

Slightly more – 39 per cent – rejected the idea, and 27 per cent were unsure.

Among football fans, 32 per cent favoured a boycott, but 56 per cent believed the team should take part.

The question has come since the worsening of diplomatic relations between Russia and the UK in the wake of the nerve gas attack in Salisbury.

Prime Minister Theresa May has said no government ministers or members of the royal family will attend, but stopped short of backing a total boycott.

The Foreign Office has also warned England fans planning to travel to Russia that they should "be aware of the possibility of anti-British sentiment or harassment".

But what do you think?
