A man suffered life-threatening injuries in a serious crash in Penge this morning.
Police were called by the London Ambulance Service to Parish Lane at about 6.45am after two cars collided.
A man in his 20s was taken to hospital in central London, and a Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said his injuries are thought to be life-threatening.
Two people who were in a white Mercedes involved in the crash stopped at the scene, but the occupants of the second car - a silver Ford Focus- fled.
Police want to speak to the people from the second car, or to anyone who saw the crash or saw people running away from the area.
They do not yet know whether the injured man was in that car or a pedestrian.
There have been no arrests; police enquiries continue.
Bromley police tweeted their thanks to Christ Central Penge for giving hot drinks to emergency services.
