A passenger was violently pulled from a bus and shoved into a car before being beaten during a kidnap.

Ricky Wilton, of Gwynn Road in Northfleet, was jailed at Maidstone Crown Court for two years.

The court heard in May last year Wilton, 22, had swerved in front of the bus as it travelled from Bluewater, forcing it to stop.

He ran from his car through the bus's fire exit before grabbing the victim, a man in his 20s.

Wilton then punched and beat the victim before dragging him to his car, throwing him inside and driving off.

He drove to Greenhithe and Northfleet, attacking the victim and demanding money.

Kent Police was called when Wilton drove to the victim’s grandmother’s house and demanded the victim enter and ask for £80.

Investigating officer PC Amy Edwards said: "This was an especially violent case. A disagreement had escalated to the point where Wilton decided to kidnap the victim in broad daylight.

"His actions were reckless and blind to the impact they would have had on the bus driver and surrounding witnesses."

Wilton was arrested and later found guilty of assault and kidnap. The victim suffered minor injuries.
