We asked you, our wise readers, to vote for the best pub of Bexleyheath and the results are in.

By a clear margin The Yacht in Long Lane got the top spot, with a 17-vote lead as of March 10.

Honourable mentions are The Furze Wren, which came in second, followed by The Robin Hood and Little John in third place.

We caught up with Jason Togwell, co-manager with partner Sue Barnes, to see how they felt about the pub being unofficially crowned the best of Bexleyheath.

Mr Togwell said: “It’s fantastic. It’s nice to get that feedback, it makes the job worthwhile. I shall pass the news on to all our staff.

“I’m at a loss for words. We would love to say a big thank you to everyone who voted for us and we hope to continue to do well.”

The pub was refurbished last year and Mr Togwell believes this and its welcoming family environment, pub garden, and great food is part of its success.

He said: “We have been here a long time. It’s quite a modern pub and now we do different food and drink offers in the week.

“We do a lot of different things, from fish and chips to steak and ale pie; we do big burger challenges and steak challenges. It’s a very varied menu.

“We also have lots of different wines and drinks.”

The Yacht’s £5 steak offer on Monday and Tuesday is one of its most popular, one TripAdvisor reviewer said ‘You can’t beat The Yacht for the tastiest steak ever’.

Others praise ‘very friendly staff’ and the playground for children in summer.
