A police investigation is under way after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted on a bus in Bexley.

Scotland Yard said the girl called police at 5.30pm yesterday (March 7) after she was approached by a scarred stranger.

A spokesman said: "The victim, a girl in her teens, reported being approached by another passenger who sat down next to her and tried to start a conversation before touching her sexually."

The suspect has been described as an Asian man in his late 40s or early 50s, with a scar under his right eye.

No arrests have been made and police are appealing for information about what happened.

Police have now confirmed the assualt was on a 99 bus, which travels between Geddes Place and Woolwich.
