The man dubbed ‘Lewisham’s most wanted’ after a thieving spree across the borough has finally been caught and jailed.
Thomas Mongan targeted a number of shops across Lewisham between December 2016 and July 2017.
The 29-year-old serial burglar would simply walk into shops, grab cash from the till and walk out.
Mongan had been on the Met Police’s wanted list since January 2017, and investigating officers were not able to track him down despite numerous appeals.

He even appeared on the Crimewatch Roadshow in June as police did everything in their power to put his face in the public eye, with Lewisham police calling him their most wanted.
Finally, on January 8, Mongan was caught by police in Liverpool.
Mongan, who was living in Liverpool, was dragged in front of Woolwich Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to 11 different offences including burglary, theft, fraud and criminal damage.
He was sentenced at the same court to two years in prison.
DS Neil Dickerson, of Lewisham police, said: “Mongan is a brazen offender and I am convinced that London will be all the safer following his imprisonment.
“His being brought to justice is a stark reminder that anyone concerned in burglaries and thefts will be sought by Lewisham and police and brought to justice.”
