Plans to turn a listed old bank building in New Cross that has been derelict for 20 years into a bar and micro-brewery have been submitted to Lewisham Council.

The old bank building at 329-331 on New Cross Road, next to Venue night club, was built in 1903 as a branch of Midland Bank, but is currently empty.

The Grade II listed building was last used in the 90s as a fast food outlet but hasn’t been open since.

The plans seek to transform the building in a bar, restaurant and performance space, as well as a courtyard out the back and a micro-brewery.

The three-storey building, plus a basement that will be used for musical performances, will not have its street-facing architecture changed in the plans.

The building is considered an important part of the character of New Cross with the design of the buildings similar to the Venue nightclub and New Cross Inn across the road.
