A vacant 19th-century building in Bromley High Street, which was last used as a sports bar, could be set for a major development.

An application has been submitted to transform the site into a restaurant/pub, office space and homes.

To the rear of the building, located at 196-198 Bromley High Street, the construction of a gym and fitness studio is also proposed.

The building, which dates back to 1876, was used as homes in the 20th century, before being turned into a pub in the 1990s.

Mascots Sports Bar was the last pub to operate from the site.

Here are photos from Google Maps documenting how the building has changed over the past 10 years.

It is now proposed that the ground floor will be used as a pub/restaurant, the first floor as offices and the second and third floor as flats.

If Bromley Council accepts the application by Webb Architects Limited, a single-storey building at the back will be demolished to construct a two-storey gym and fitness studio. The rear stable block would be retained.

In 2008 the premises served as an Australian bar called Walkabout.

In 2012 the building served as a sports bar called TP's.

In a statement, Webb Architects Limited said: "As a designated Opportunity Area within the London Plan, development in Bromley Town Centre is encouraged to promote new cultural, leisure and residential development, and development proposals should contain a mix of uses where appropriate.

"In addition, the application site sits within Bromley North Village, where the Local Plan allows for the conversion of upper floors to residential, office or other appropriate uses which will enhance the vitality of the area and improve its appearance.

"The London Plan seeks to ensure that growth in Opportunity Areas ensures a vibrant day and night time centre."
