Plans for a 36-storey tower block directly outside the entrance to The O2 have been submitted to Greenwich Council.

The 102 metre tall tower will be one of the first things you see as you exit The O2 on your right hand side.

The ground floors will consist of shops and restaurants, while the rest of the floors will consist of 262 homes and a gym.

Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) own the land, the same company that owns the O2 Arena.

Plans for an eight-storey office building at the same site was granted in 2010, but due to lack of demand for office space on the peninsula, the building never went ahead.

A planning application was first submitted to the site in November 2015, but revised plans were submitted two years later with a significantly redesigned tower block with fewer homes.

Greenwich Peninsula is undergoing massive redevelopment with developers Knight Dragon at the centre, with a masterplan for over 12,000 new homes in the area and a £1 billion landmark upturned plug-shaped building.
